Message from our CEO

Thank you for visiting our Web site.  We appreciate your interest in NexBio.

The primary focus of our drug development effort since the founding of the company has been prevention and treatment of human respiratory viral infections; in particular, prevention and treatment of seasonal Influenza-Like-Illness and  pandemic influenza.  We strive to lead the quest for a novel therapy that is broad-spectrum, safe, efficacious, and can be mass-produced for widespread and timely distribution.  Currently, our flagship product Fludase® (DAS181) is in clinical development.  The Fludase® program is being conducted in close collaboration with, and strongly supported by, the US government as rapidly and safely as possible.

With the threat of a global influenza pandemic and with the increased prevalence of influenza strains resistant to current therapies, we feel a deep social responsibility to advance the development of Fludase®.

Reflecting the spirit of innovation upon which NexBio was founded, our scientists have invented TOSAP®, a novel, highly versatile and elegantly simple particle technology for drug product formulation. While discovery of TOSAP® was driven by a drug delivery challenge specific to Fludase®, the technology is broadly applicable across many classes of molecule, including proteins, peptides, and antibodies, siRNA and DNA, chemical compounds, whole viral particles, and others.

Sepcidin™, a pipeline candidate in pre-clinical development, is another broad-spectrum agent that treats a wide range of serious diseases, including sepsis, septic shock, and viral hemorrhagic fever caused by such pathogens as Ebola virus.  These conditions are major causes of mortality and are inadequately addressed by current therapeutic modalities.

Our leadership team has a track record of effective development of antiviral therapies.  This team is supported by a highly dedicated and competent staff with broad expertise in biopharmaceutical development. Our distinguished Advisory Board consists of industry leaders that have played key roles in bringing innovative biopharmaceutical products to the marketplace, offering expertise in research, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, non-clinical and clinical development.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the support of the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, without which our critical research would not be possible.
