Leadership
Mang Yu, Ph.D., President & CEO.  Mang started his  
scientist entrepreneur career 24 years ago by conducting
biomedical research & teaching medical students as a
faculty member at Fudan University.  His present company,
NexBio, is a winner of a $50M NIH contract and was
awarded “Scientific American 50” for its innovative influenza
medicine.  Prior to founding NexBio, he was a co-founder
and Executive Vice President of Perlan Therapeutics, a
biopharmaceutical company with its lead product for the
Cal Bowman, J.D., RAC, Sr. VP, Product Development &
Regulatory Affairs.  
Cal has over 20 years of senior
management experience in Product Development &
Regulatory Affairs at VP level at small, medium & large
pharmaceutical companies.  He joined NexBio’s executive
management team from Eisai, one of the top 20
pharmaceutical companies in the world, as a VP of RA.  He
has been responsible for successfully obtaining over 50
NDAs, ANDAs, BLAs, and PMAs, in the US and over 50
David Wurtman, M.D., M.B.A., VP, Corporate Development.  
David is in charge of the company’s business development,
intellectual property, and general strategic planning and
execution.  A board-certified internist, David received his M.
D. degree from the Harvard University, School of Medicine
and practiced medicine on the staff of a Harvard teaching
hospital.  Subsequently, David worked at S.G. Cowen in the
pharmaceutical analyst group, and then obtained his MBA
Dongmei Wang, CPA, Executive Director, Finance &
Operations.
 Dongmei is in charge of the company's
multiple business functions including finance, accounting,
human resources and administration.   She has held
management positions with increasing responsibilities in
many orgnizations including bio-technology companies
such as Progeny Systems and AutoGenomics prior to
joining NexBio.   Most recently, Dongmei was Director of
common cold, ColdSol, winning the Most Innovative New Product (MIP) Award.  
Prior to Perlan, Mang was a scientific co-founder of Immusol (now ItherX
Pharmaceuticals) where he served as Director of Target Discovery and Gene
Therapy (for HIV, HBV, & HCV).  Among other activities, he is a board member of
Bridgetech Holding International, a publicly traded multi-national healthcare
company.  Mang has published his scientific work extensively and holds
numerous patents on anti-viral products.  In addition to working with the US
government, he is experienced in VC financing and corporate partnership deals.  
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Indiana
University School of Medicine, and completed his post-doctoral training at UCSD.
European and Asian approvals.  Cal has been a board member of the
Regulatory Affairs Professional Society.  He has served as the chairman of the
regulatory arm of 3 major trade organizations and has been a frequent guest
speaker in the field.  His senior management responsibilities in addition to
Product Development and Regulatory have included managing major Clinical,
Quality Assurance, New Business, Process Development and IT departments.  
Cal obtained his BA degree from Brigham Young University (Pre-Med) and his J.
D. degree from Western State University, College of Law.  He is Regulatory
Affairs Certified by the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society, and is a Certified
Quality Manager and Auditor by the American Society of Quality.
from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.  He began his corporate
development career at Genzyme after which he moved to Eos Biotechnology,
where he headed up business development. He participated in the sale of Eos
to PDL BioPharma, which he joined as Sr. Director of Corporate Development
after the closing. He later formed and headed the Albion Consulting Group,
offering corporate and business development, business strategy, fundraising,
new product and portfolio planning, and market research advise to early-stage
biotechnology companies.  He has completed numerous licensing deals with
corporate partners such as Seattle Genetics, ICOS, Medarex, PDL BioPharma,
Otsuka, Kai, Xenerex, R&D Systems and pH Advantage.
Fang Fang, M.D., Ph.D., CSO & CMO.  Fang is named one of
the People to Watch in the Life Sciences Industry.  Prior to co-
founding NexBio, she was the Scientific Founder of Perlan
Therapeutics, where she was the inventor of Perlan’s lead
drug, ColdSol.  At Perlan, she held three positions of
increasing responsibility: Scientific & Medical Director, Vice
President of Research & Development, and Chief Scientific
Officer.  In addition to receiving the Most Innovative New
Product (MIP) Award for ColdSol in 2002, Fang was the 2003 recipient of the
“Biopharma Award for Technology Innovation Leadership”; was named as one
of the “10 San Diego Innovators of the Next Generation Technology Leadership”
in the same year, and was one of the five finalists for the “Chief Scientist of the
Year” award for bioFUSION 2003.  She has been awarded numerous
significant grants & contracts from the NIH /NIAID.  Fang holds a MD degree
from Peking Union Medical College, and completed her residency at Harvard
University’s MGH.  In addition, she holds a Ph.D. degree in Cell Biology from
UCSD, and completed her post-doctoral training at the Burnham Institute and
was a physician scientist at the Salk Institute.
Finance & Controller for AutoGenomics, Inc..  Previously, she had worked as
Auditor, Senior Accountant /Analyst, Accounting Manager, and Controller.  In
addtion, she has extensive hands-on experience in human resources and
administration.  Dongmei holds a Master Degree of International Management
from University of St. Thomas and a BS Degree in Accounting from University of
Minnesota. In addition, Dongmei is a holder of the license of a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA).
